WeevilWatch: Smart Pest Monitoring in Ornamental Crops

The project is funded through ADOPT (Accelerating Development of Practices and Technologies), a multi-year funding programme within the UK Defra Farming Innovation Programme, delivered in partnership with Innovate UK.  ADOPT supports collaborative grower-led, on-site trials or experiments to generate, test, and demonstrate, innovative solutions that address commercial production challenges.

This Innovate UK funded ADOPT project is testing a ‘smart’ monitoring system to improve detection of adult vine weevil. As part of this project work to optimise the performance of the monitoring tool will happen at Harper Adams University. You can help with this work if your nursery has an outbreak of vine weevil. Please send a message to Professor Tom Pope: [email protected]  and we can arrange postage for you to send us any weevils. If your nursery is within two hours of the university campus (postcode: TF10 8NB) we may be able to collect the weevils ourselves.

Thank you for your support.

Look out for demonstrations at the HTA National Plant Show and FutureGrow Expo. A full day event is planned for October.
